2013 is almost over!

I am about to get ready for our New Year's Eve Service. I would call it a watch night service but I think we will be gone before midnight. In a way, it is nice bringing in the new year at home and safe. But, I do like being at the church at midnight too. We are supposed to have communion tonight, the Sons Of Thunder are speaking & then there is food and fellowship. It is starting at 7:30. I made my Cheddar Ranch Cheeseball to take with us. I might make a cookie/candy tray to take. But if I do that, it will have to be quickly since it is already 6PM. We have so much cookies and homemade candy that I want it gone from our place. Haha Less temptation.

So, 2013 is about gone and 2014 will began. I am ready to see where God takes us in this New Year. It is always exciting to start afresh. I told my hubby about the 52 Week Savings Challenge and I am really considering doing that this year. I just want to save, get out of any debt we might have, start being more frugal, grow in God, grow stronger in our marriage... etc. But, I don't wanna make any resolutions because those break so easily. Instead, I just want to change for the better!

Well, I better finish getting ready and decide if I am taking the cookies/candy or not!

Have a happy day and be safe tonight,

Christmas Is Officially Done Here

So, Christmas has come to an end. We had our final Christmas dinner over at the Uncles place. We just had the same thing we had for Thanksgiving. Turkey, Creamed Corn, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Rolls, Stuffing & Chocolate Cake for dessert. It was good. Wasn't the best that I had but it was good. I left full but ended up eating leftover salad from last night's dinner at Buffalo Wings & Rings. I've been on a salad kick lately. I've lost another 2 lbs I think. This new medicine that the doctor has me on is working really good. I just need to stop the sweets! But with Christmas it was kinda hard and we have tons of cookies left over and some candy! UGH! I think I am gonna freeze a lot of it and tomorrow I am taking some to church with me for my Sunday School kids. Hopefully they will like the White Chocolate Chip Cookies. :)

Looking forward to tomorrow's services. Tomorrow is the last Sunday that we are having the services the way that we do. Currently, it is 2 services. Sunday School in the morning at 10:30 and then Evening service at 6:00. Starting on the 5th of January we are going to be having Sunday School at 10:30, then go directly into praise and worship and our Evangelistic service. We will have the evenings free. I think this new schedule will be different but I think we will see growth in our services eventually. This way of doing services have shown success in many churches including the church I went to when I lived in WV. Pretty excited for the winter schedule. It is supposed to last until March but it might just be permanent if we start seeing that it is helping the church.

Speaking of church, I'd like those to remember my friend Jodi in your prayers. I met her at camp this past year. I didn't know that she read my blog until then. She told me that she found my blog through another one of our friends. She is having complications with her kidneys and this is the second go around. Please pray for her, her husband Rick and their little girl Amelia. Thanks!

I better head to bed!

Have a happy nite,

Laid Off Until Next Year

So, I knew this day was coming again and don't know if I mentioned it. I got laid off until next year. My guess is that I'll be back to work within 4 to 8 weeks.  I left work early today. I used 4 hours of annual leave. I didn't really want to but I wanted to get paid a full weeks pay so I used it. I'll have 12 hours available  starting out when I go back.  That is enough to take off work for Ladies Retreat!

I went to lunch with my MIL. Then we went shopping! I used some Christmas money and got this Vera Bradley.  :)

I also used my Birthday rewards card from VS and another VS gift card that I had and got these 2 gift sets and a fragrance mist... I paid less than $3 out of pocket. The gift sets were 40% off!

And going with the Birthday theme, I got this on my way home! Pumpkin Spice Latte. Yum. Free for me cause of it being my birthday month! Yes! Sad that my birthday month is almost over.
I've got 2 more coupons that can be used until the end of the year.  Not sure if I will use them or not though. One is for free food at Noodles and Co! I really wanna use this one so maybe on Sunday or Monday!

Well, I am headed to bed shortly! We are headed over for another Christmas dinner at the uncles place and that should be the end of Christmas celebrations for this household.

Have a happy weekend,

Let's Remember The True Meaning!

We just got in not to long ago from my in-laws. We had dinner over there and opened up gifts except for a couple of them that we will be opening tomorrow. I got a lot from them. I am thankful! I'll be taking pictures and posting them probably tomorrow evening.

With Christmas tomorrow, let us remember that this is the day that we celebrate Jesus' birth. His birth was prophesied by Isaiah in Isaiah Chapter 9 and we see that prophesy fulfilled in the Gospels.

Luke 2:1-14 reads:
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Jesus is the reason for the season. As the song says, "All the tinsel and lights and the presents are nice but the real gift is You."  I am so glad for the birth of Jesus! I am so thankful that He was born, that He died and that He arose.  Thank you Jesus for this life You've given to me and Happy Birthday!

Busy Like A Bee on Merry Christmas Eve Eve

I promise I haven't forgot about my blog.  Yesterday I was busy at church and I only had 4 hours sleep on Saturday night so I caught up on that sleep between services and was too tired last night to get on here!

I've been busy today too. I worked and then did some Christmas shopping for my husband.  Trying to get a handmade gift done in time for Christmas day so I was working on that. It may not get done though.

Now it is pretty late and I have to get to bed because I have to work in the morning. Merry Christmas Eve Eve.

Have a happy nite,

Christmas Party 2013

We had a good time at Granny's house. Here are a few pictures from the Christmas party.

Santa aka Uncle Gary. LOL He forgot to button up the Santa shirt/jacket. Oops.

Here are the older girls playing Greedy Santa. I've always loved this game.

Christmas Party 2008
This year's Christmas Party!

It was raining today. Here I am waiting on an oil change. Since our new car sat in Aunt Pam's driveway for so long, we figured it best to get some maintenance done on it.

And here is our car! It was too dark last night to take a picture. It was so dirty having sat under a Honeysuckle Tree. We put it through two car washes last night and wiped it down. And hubby went out and spot cleaned it in the rain this afternoon. This picture was taken right after that. Pretty huh?

Well, I am headed to bed. Got church in the morning :) My class is gonna have some fun tomorrow. I think I have everything prepared for a little party.  I hope all my regulars show up! I have enough treats for a few more just in case.

Have a happy nite,

Long Friday!

My day was long! Work took forever it seems. Couldn't get my time sheet to come out right at the end of my shift. Hopefully my lead was able to get it to come out. I guess I'll find out on Monday.

I went over to Granny's after work and made pies.  She made the crust.  My MIL did the oven and I did all the fillings for them.

German Chocolate Pie

Pecan Pie

Don't forget the Pumpkin Pie

They sure look yummy! I can't wait to have a little slice of each. We are talking a tiny slice too.

And guess what else happened today?
Hubby has an interview on Monday! Say a prayer for him. It is at 11:30am!

And we got our car!  For some reason we thought it was a Civic but is an Honda Accord.  It is nice none the less. It only has 15000 miles on it. We didn't get it fully cleaned off though. Hopefully tomorrow we can.

Speaking of tomorrow, we have the Christmas party at Granny's and I have to make salami rolls because I didn't get around to doing it tonight. Good thing the party is at 5pm. And on that note, I am headed to bed. Got lots more to do tomorrow besides the party!

Have a happy nite,

Somebody Stop Time & Give Me Ideas.

Christmas is next week you guys! I am not prepared. Really, I have bought stuff for all my family back in WV but not for anyone here in KY. Well, I got a couple things for the hubby and something for one of my friends. That is it!

I haven't a clue what to get my MIL and FIL! I need ideas!

I love to give during this time of year but what makes me stressed out is finding a good gift. Not a perfect gift but a good gift.  What do you get people that don't let you know what they want or for people that have everything they want?! Let me know. Comment or Tweet me! @roxannaj

Can we just please stop time for another week?

Have a happy nite,

Just to be close to You.

Great message tonight in Bible Study at church. My hubby taught on "How Close Can I Get? -Doctrine Of Direction"
How can we get close to God? Prayer is the key.. It always has been and will be. If we draw nigh to Him, He will draw nigh to us.
Headed to bed. Hope everyone has a happy Thursday.

Shopping Online For Christmas & Furlough Is Coming

Hope everyone had a happy day! Mine was pretty boring. Although, I did find out that December 27th is my last day for this season. I could be furloughed between 2 to 4 weeks. I am kinda glad that I don't have to worry about requesting the 3rd off.  We are going to Holiday Youth Convention (formally known as KY District Winter Youth Retreat) in Louisville.  The young people are so excited.

After work, I did get some mailing tape from Kroger to mail out stuff to WV. The mail carrier will be picking up to boxes in the morning. I finally feel like I am getting somewhere. I think that it might come together by Christmas. Or at least I hope.

Speaking of Christmas, I am still doing some shopping online.  I got some things from Figis and I might get some things from LTDCommodities.  If you haven't used either of these you should. They have good products and good prices. I'll be using Amazon too! What are some of your favorite places online.

Have a happy nite,

My Day

We had breakfast food day at work today. The casserole was great. Not sure who made it or the gravy. The gravy was too salty though. I brought in one of those store bought Bridgeford Monkey Breads.  It was good. Not as good as homemade though. I didn't get anything else except for a cookie and a couple sausage balls. They were okay.

I got my seat back today.  Apparently, since I sit there noone else is supposed to sit there. Or at least that is what my old manager said. I have been there the whole time since we got back to work so those who come in from other depts to help out are to report to the front to find a seat instead of just sitting in others places. Which is how it should be right?

We had more snow this morning which threw the day off for those who work and have little kids. The schools had two hour delays and then a little later they closed. But, the roads were not bad at all and the snow stopped. This messed up my friend Mary in coming to work on time and she had to get a sitter. Well, she left her purse and phone at home. So, I let her borrow mine.  Even though, the battery life was not good because it dies quickly now. I had to borrow a charger from another friend at work because I forgot mine. Gotta love technology. Maybe I should ask for one of those emergency charger things for my phone for Christmas.

After work, I made more cookies today. I put pictures on my instagram.

We made wedding cookies and white macadamia nut cookies. Mmm so good.

I came home trying to get some more things done off of my list and I really wanted to mail off things for family back in WV but I don't have any packaging tape. So, I have to get that tomorrow and mail it out either tomorrow after work or have it waiting for the mail carrier on Wednesday.

I am starting in October next year. I really have to.

Have a happy nite,

I Was Doing So Well

Last night I was watching Brave and fell asleep. Not only did I miss most of what my husband says was a great movie but I also missed blogging. I was doing so good! Oh well, you'll have those days.

Today was our Sunday School Christmas Program. The kids did really good. I was very pleased with my S.S. class. I didn't get any pictures though. I went out to eat with just the hubby this afternoon. We had Don Pablos.

We hung out with Chris & Tiff tonight at Friday's after church of course. They are great friends. She is 6 months pregnant. We may not be able to hang out as much when their baby boy gets here!

I didn't get anything done on my list this weekend for Christmas. I am very upset about this. I hope I can get things done this week. I hate doing things last minute. UGH!

Well, I've gotta get to bed because work is in the morning!

Have a happy nite,

Day Thrown Off

Today was definitely a Friday the 13th at work. My day was thrown off at the start of my tour of duty because someone was sitting in my seat. So I had to sit somewhere else and so did my friend Mary. We usually sit beside each other. It just totally messed me up... Plus today seemed to go by so slow. Maybe it was just because it is the end of the work week and I wanted out of there.

I made a to-do list at work today for "Today" and "This Weekend" & had 8 things that I wanted to do today when I got home. I got 1 of those things done. Laundry. I guess I have much to do now between tomorrow and Sunday. The 7 things I didn't get done and about 8 to 9 other things that I had written down for "This Weekend."

Thomas' birthday was tonight so Travis and I headed to the party after he got done and home from work. We were late but so was a few others. It was at Chuck E. Cheese. We ate cake and ice cream there and then went to IHOP afterwards for real food. Haha

That was my day. Oh and it started to snow again. Hopefully it isn't bad in the morning because we are gonna be getting our car, The Magic Mushroom II and I have to go to the grocery store for stuff for after our S.S. Christmas Program!

Have a happy night,

A Reason To Declutter And My Christmas Wish List

Well, I found a reason to declutter today. I was looking through our Blu-ray DVDs and saw that there were two, yes two, that were unopened!  When did I receive these you might ask? I got them for Christmas last year!! Brave and Soul Surfer. So, I will be watching one of them tomorrow night and maybe the other on Saturday!
If I ever needed a reason to declutter, this is one of them. This place is so cluttered with stuff that I overlook things that I have that we haven't even opened or used! Wish I had the time and energy to do what needs to be done.  Looks like it is gonna take however long it has too until I get the time and energy to do so. Also, I just want to move into a 2 bedroom apartment or house! Or maybe even rent a temporary storage garage.

As for my Christmas list, here are some things that I want:

  • Boots! (this is really a need since I need new shoes anyway. I want some nice flat boots to wear with the jean skirts and keep my feet warm.) I got to pick them out though. So I guess a gift card would do.
  • Purse-that I pick out.
  • Perfume. I like different kinds.  I have expensive taste though. Exs. Marc Jacobs Honey or Ralph by Ralph Lauren
  • ONCE Season 1
  • Reawakened - Once Upon A Time Book
  • T-shirt from thinkgeek.com
  • Cute Cardigan
  • eos lipbalm set at Sam's
  • Coffee
  • Year Hulu Plus Subscription?
  • Giftcards to places like Charming Charlie, Christmas Tree Shop, Starbucks, TJMaxx, Panera, Catos, the Mall, Trader Joes, Dollar Tree, Old Navy, Ulta, Family Christian, Amazon etc... anywhere.
  • Comfy PJs
  • Cute Bible Case
  • Shoes- Flats/ Toms.com has some of my favorites
  • Modest Swimsuit from dainty jewels online cause I am wanting to go swimming/to the beach or something this coming year!
  • wooden filing cabinet to match my desk
  • Slouchy Hat/Slouch Beanie
  • case for my phone!
  • Scarf
  • A weekend trip away in a hotel suite!
  • desk organizer set
  • Polar Heartrate Monitor
  • Ferrero Rocher- my fav!
  • anything geeky ;) thinkgeek.com
  • a maid
  • a fitness coach
  • a chef
Okay those last three are for laughs. And this list are just wants. I really don't need any of them except for the boots/shoes. I don't think ladies are that hard to shop for. We love shopping so give us something to do that and we are good to go. LOL

There you have it.

Have a happy nite,

Preparing for Christmas: Gift Idea

Look what I made! Cookie cutters filled with Christmas bark. Which one do you like the best?
I made these for some of my family back in WV. I will be mailing them out early to make sure they get there in time for Christmas. So it may not be wrapped under the tree, they can at least enjoy the bark and then use the cookie cutters in making cookies for Christmas.

I will be putting these in individual cute bags and labels. The yellow angel is my Dad's.  It is dark chocolate on bottom and then the yellow with crispy rice in it. And some clear sprinkles.  :) The green wreath is for a friend at work.  It is red crispy on the bottom and then green on top with sprinkles.  The green bell is for my hubby.  The other 11 will be sent with my Dad's to other family members.

I think my favorite is Santa's hat. LOL I got creative on that one and used 3 different candy melts to make it. I used milk chocolate on the bottom, red and peppermint on top. I am giving it to Robin and hope that she likes Peppermint. If she doesn't at least there is only a couple areas with that. The rest she will like. Or she can switch it out with someone elses. I'll never know.

Well, this is what I did today between work and church this evening. I figured I would share. Maybe you'll get an idea from seeing this.

Have a happy nite,

Whovians In The Grocery Store

I woke up this morning feeling even worse than yesterday! I showered to see if it would make me feel better but it didn't help me. So, I called off of work and went back to bed. I slept until 10 something and then got up and made me some yummy oatmeal. Feeling a bit better, I decided to watch some Youtube videos in the living room. My MIL called and we went to lunch and then to Christmas Tree Shop. We were gonna go back to Granny's and do cookies, but it was late when we got done with lunch and shopping.  So, I went back to her place and got some Christmas cards, then stopped by Kroger to pick up a few things and then she brought me back home. I am feeling better. I think I slept away whatever it was that was trying to get me and will be back to work tomorrow.

Long interesting day!
Our Snow-covered Car
Oh, I woke up to more snow this morning. I took this picture when I got up to shower.

Another Whovian. In the Cheese Dept at Kroger.
And I saw this at Kroger and it made me smile.  LOL :)

Have a happy nite,

Earn Four Times Fuel Points

So, I plan on getting a couple of gift cards for the holiday season. Right now at Kroger, you can earn 4X Fuel points on hundreds of gift cards.  Yes, there are some that doesn't apply to but most of the gift cards count. For instance, restaurant and clothing stores like BW3's & Lowes count!

Have you ever been in that "not knowing what to buy for name person of your choice indecisiveness?" I know I am this year. My husband and I are going to be buying a few cards this season because we don't know what to get some of our friends.

Gift cards make it easy for that person you don't know what to buy for.  Get them a gift card and let them do their own shopping for what they want! So, run on over to Kroger or your nearest The Kroger Co. Family of Stores and buy them!! It is only limited time for 4X fuel points so you better get them now.

Have a happy day,

I am a BzzAgent! I got coupons. All opinions are my own.

Should Have Started Sooner

Does anyone else feel that way? That you should have started sooner for the holiday season? I am so tired tonight and didn't feel that well today. After work I went over to Granny's and we made some cookies. We have more to do though. Definitely not finished just yet. I still have to buy gifts for Christmas! And I have a few things to make. I feel as if I should have started sooner. I still have Christmas cards to make out and send. Oh December, would you please slow done a bit because I fear that I will run out of time.  With making cookies, I don't know if I'll find time to do some things around the house that needs done too. Maybe next year, I'll start sooner.

If you are reading this, comment below and tell me what you have't done yet!

Have a happy nite,

Wintery Weather

I didn't take any pretty pictures today but we did have some more wintery weather. We were supposed to get more snow this evening but it doesn't look like we did.  Church was cancelled tonight because of that reason. It is really cold out there though. So maybe the roads are a little bad. I am not sure if we are getting anything over night or not. I hope not because I don't want to be driving in it. And I've got work in the morning.

We had a nice lunch today at Anita's Mexican Restaurant. It was a thank you dinner hosted by our Pastor & wife. Very sweet of them.  The food at Anita's is really good. We brought some home with us and had mexican for dinner. I ate my leftovers from the birthday night and Travis had leftovers from this afternoon.

We went to Kroger on the way home. I got a PSL! I wonder when they are going away? Pumpkin Spice Lattes are the best. I picked up some lunch for tomorrow at work. A salad and some apples. I really have to eat better! The holidays are not the greatest in losing weight either. Specially around Christmas!

I didn't do much this evening except watch Youtube and get on Pinterest.  Both are addicting, Pinterest has so many cute ideas that I just lose track of time. It is a time stealer! Am I right?

Well, I better get ready for bed soon.

Have a happy nite,

Roxanna :)

Anniversary Celebrations

So with yesterday's winter storm happening, we postponed our dinner until today. We had reservations last night with Montgomery Inn so we decided to still go there. We just went today without making the reservations.

Here is me and my food!
I got the Big Ted's Platter. It is really good. It is ribs, smoked brisket and pulled pork on jalapeno corn cakes.  I also got a baked potato. The food was cooked perfectly. The baked potato was one of the best potatoes I've had in a while. It was done perfectly. I brought most of the pulled pork and brisket home.

Hubby got a combo of chicken & porkchop with mac n' cheese.

It was a yummy dinner! We went to Sweet Frog after stopping by Dollar Tree for a few things. Love Froyo even though it was cold out.

Here are some more pictures from yesterday!
a #needcoffeenow mug hubby got me
for birthday/anniversary.
I got another one today that I really like too.

It is supposed to snow again tomorrow. I hope it isn't too bad.  We have church in the morning and hopefully in the evening!

Have a happy nite,
