14 Week Update

Date: August 7, 2014

Due Date: January 31, 2015

How Far Along: 14w5d

Bump Pic: Once I start showing, I'll include this. I keep forgetting to take a picture for my own records even though I am not showing!

What I miss: Nothing. So blessed to be pregnant!

Baby’s Size: Navel Orange

Symptoms: Nausea, lower back pain and ligament pain especially when I sneeze.

Weight Gain: I weighed 216 at my Perinatologist appointment this past Monday. The scale is different from my OBGYN office so I don't know if I gained or if I am the same or what!?

Maternity Clothes: Right now, I am still in my regular clothes.

Cravings: Still Dark Chocolate & Mexican/TexMex Food. I've had a sweet tooth this week though!

Food Aversions: Nothing as of right now.

Gender Guess: Not sure yet. We will be finding out very soon. Read why below.

Medical Happenings: I had a follow-up appointment with my Perinatologist on Monday. I wanted to get on after the appointment and update my blog, but I guess I was too tired. I thought I was going in for just a follow-up about my sugars, however I ended up getting an ultrasound. The doctor apparently ordered the tech to look for certain measurements and I know we had talked about doing the NT ultrasound for fetal trisomies which includes finger prick/blood work. Apparently, the doctor decided that he wanted to try to check the baby that way by doing the Nuchal transparency ultrasound at my appointment Monday. The tech couldn't get the right measurements of the nuchal fold. She tried several times but the baby's hand would not move from around its face. She shock my stomach with the wand and also had me get up and go to the bathroom and then try again. Still the baby was stubborn and wouldn't move that hand! I laid in the room for about 20 minutes with the towel over my stomach because the tech went to see what the doctor wanted to do. Well, he came in and I was still laying like I was. He sat down and basically said that she couldn't get the measurements that he wanted and that I was too far along for them to do the NT scan and finger prick/blood work. So, he said that he wanted me to do the Harmony Prenatal Test. This is what my husband and I wanted to do anyway. So that test should come back in a couple weeks. It detects common fetal trisomies in pregnancies of 10 weeks or more based on directed analysis of DNA in maternal blood. This test also checks the X, Y analysis. That means we will also know if we are having a boy or girl in the next couple weeks. Let the shopping begin! :) Dr. Evans also changed my dose of insulin. I had the nxtPanel genetic carrier screening test for Cystic Fibrosis, Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Fragile X Syndrome done on June 23rd. I forgot all about it until I was going through some paperwork. I didn't hear anything back about that. So, I think I am going to ask about that on my next appointment with my OBGYN at the end of this month.

Emotional Stuff: Still get moody and cry at silly things. I've been a little snap happy too. Hormones.

Belly Button – In or Out?: In still!

Movement: I can't feel anything yet!

Sleep: There is good days and bad! LOL

What I am looking forward to: Finding out the results of our Harmony test. And finding out what the gender of the baby is!

Well, if you have any questions, feel free to comment!! :)

I have some ultrasound pics from the scan that I will scan and upload hopefully tomorrow!!!

Have a happy nite,
